MY HEART ON MY SLEEVE

Lowri Crook is a photographer originally from the North East but now based in Manchester. Throughout her time at the University, Lowri’s work has been focused on a key interest in footwear photography, individuality and tattoos.
Growing up within streetwear and footwear communities Lowri found her place and style and developed an interest in everyone's individuality which is her main focus to showcase through photography. This project aimed to keep her main theme of footwear photography by capturing each person’s shoe choice on the day as she believes it's such a key part of expressing yourself.
This project has evolved over her third year at The University of Salford and has showcased multiple different people and the art they chose to display on their skin. The idea behind this is to tackle the existing taboo around tattoos and people's first judgement. Within this series of images, you are introduced to a person from afar and build a closer knowledge of them as you go through each photo. By the end of the four images, you should consider your initial thoughts of the person in front of you and if they have changed now that you have seen more.
The project currently titled “My Heart On My Sleeve” will be continuing once Lowri has graduated because of its success so far. Whilst still being based in Manchester after University, she looks forward to travelling up and down the country to photograph more people for the project, and possibly other countries too.
